1 - Solving Equations
Main:
Solving Equations, using distributive property and fractions
PEMDAS for order of operations
Quadratic equations and formula
Example 1
Matti sells blueberries at the market for €7/kg. The rent of the marketplace for one day is €140. How many litres of blueberries does Matti have to sell per day so that his daily earnings would be €100? Matti has bought the blueberries from the pickers for €3/kg.
Example 2
Solve the equations - linear and quadratic
a) 3x - (5x + 1) = 3 - 9x
b) 3x / 8 - 2 = x / 8
Example 3
Solve the equations - quadratic (check the formula above)
(x^2) / 2 - 8 = 0
Example 4
Solve the equation for the other variable.
Solve for y
6x - y = 3
Example 5
The company manufactures patio chairs, whose raw material and labour costs are €15/piece. 5 000 €/month accrues costs independent of the production volume. How many patio chairs must be produced per month so that the production cost of one chair is €19?
